Who would know that Steve Jobs, one of the founding fathers of the tech industry, actually lived a very simple life. That meant living in a wooden country-style home in Palo Alto with a backyard that is so accessible, you can literally get in from the back door. In fact, the legendary tech icon was too simple that he preferred taking natural medicines instead of the latest scientific treatments to combat his life-threatening cancer. Walter Isaacson, the highly-esteemed writer and biographer who also wrote other best-selling books such as Einstein: His Life and Universe and Benjamin Franklin: An American Life, conducted approximately 40 personal interviews with Steve Jobs and over 100 detailed interviews with people who were closest to the famed CEO. The result is a book entitled Steve Jobs, and it’s pretty much what the man is – simple, frank, rebellious and mean. It’s an interesting and a shocking book that catches and carefully describes the kind of life Steve Jobs lived. The book is now available in the U.S. iBookstore for only $16.99. On the other hand, CBS has released a full 60-minute interview with Steve Jobs’s official biographer Walter Isaacson. The said episode is divided into three segments including a special feature presentation for web viewers. Part 1 is all about Steve Jobs’s humble beginnings as an adopted child and a rebellious teenager. Part 2 talks about Jobs’ comeback to Apple after founding Next and his acquisition of Pixar from Lucasfilm and part 3 is a little more interesting, featuring audio clips of Steve expressing his thoughts and feelings about his main competitors – Microsoft and eventually Google. A special third version for the web entitled The Steve Jobs Family Photo Album was also released. You can watch all the three videos online for free.
Steve Jobs died last October 5 at his home in Palo Alto, California. Medical records show that he died from respiratory arrest. A private memorial service was held on October 12 at the Apple Campus in Cupertino. Among those who were present were Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Larry Page, Larry Ellison, Bono, Norah Jones, Coldplay, Rupert Murdoch and Steve’s closest family and friends. On October 19, Apple hosted a very special event to honor and commemorate the life of its founder. The event took place in the company’s very own campus in Cupertino. A video recording of the momentous event was shown via Apple’s website and thousands of Apple employees from around the world watched as the entire community bid farewell to its foremost founder and visionary.
