The Amazons were a legendary nation of female warriors in Greek mythology. The Amazon River in South America is the largest river in the world by volume. But when we think of Amazon today we do indeed think of a ‘warrior’ but World Wide Web not Greek mythology. it is the largest online retailer, not river, in the world by volume. A DigiTimes leak has confirmed that Amazon is adding fuel to their fire

Amazon is ‘flooding’ the Tablet market this Summer. Taiwan-based notebook maker Quanta Computer has recently received OEM orders from Amazon for its reported Tablet. So, what exactly is an OEM? An original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, manufactures products or components that are purchased by a company and retailed under that purchasing company’s brand name. Basically someone else makes the product with your name on it. The Tablet in design will receive full support from Taiwan-based electrophoretic display (EPD) maker E Ink Holdings (EIH) for supplying touch panel (now found in the Kindle) as well as providing its Fringe Field Switching (FFS) technology, according to sources from upstream component makers.

The device’s monthly orders during the peak season are expected to reach about 700,000-800,000 units and Quanta is expected to start shipping as soon as the second half of 2011 with the orders to contribute more than NT$100 billion (US$3.5 billion) to Quanta’s annual revenues in 2011, the sources noted. Although mums the word, Quanta ofcourse declined to comment on its clients.

Amazons #1 seller Kindle is unable to successfully cut into the markets outside of North America and Europe; so, Amazon is going to drop the price of Kindle for those who love to read. Amazon is looking to ‘make waves’ with not only the most popular tablet the iPad2 but all tablets everywhere.
