Sadly to say most versions of the x86 Windows 8 Developer Preview are being closely guarded at BUILD or behind glass. At Build you can see reference designs of the NVIDIA, TI, and Qualcomm Developer Preview but you just can’t play with them. Below are some pictures of them that we managed to get a hold of.the Qualcomm Tablet. With this tablet you get start screen navigation and three Metro-style apps (IE and tow HTML 2D games). It was the only tablet out of the three not locked behind glass. The scrolling was not up to par with the Samsung Developer Tablet. It also appears that the Qualcomm tablet comes with a fanless processor and is much cooler. It is an 11.6 inch Snapdragon MSM8660 powered tablet.

Nvidia Kal-El reference on display
It is great that NVIDIA has developed the first quad-core ARM Windows 8 tablet but we can’t really get a feel for it when it’s behind glass at Build and you can only see Windows 8 Start.

Texas Instruments reference on display
TI’s reference design tablet is powered by dual-core 1GHz OMAP 4430 and is expected to be running Windows 8 when its OS is finished. Though all you could see at BUILD was the same HD video running or just the Start up screen. Pretty disappointing I do have to say.
