We heard it straight from the horse’s mouth or in other words the Windows Chief Operating Officer Steve Ballmer, “you ought to expect to hear a lot about Windows 8…slates, tablets, PCs, a variety of different form factors”.

That was allegedly said in Japan earlier this week during the Microsoft Developer Forum. The declaration from Ballmer was clear as day, “We’ve added touch, and ink, and speech. And yet, as we look forward to the next generation of Windows systems, which will come out next year, there’s a whole lot more coming.” The words coming from the CEO of the company must mean something, have some sort of credibility right? Wrong! As usual Microsoft quickly retracted Ballmer’s vow which presumably was attempting to knock Apple of the top of tablet mountain. ” To date, we have yet to formally announce any timing or naming for the next version of Windows.” Priceless words from the public relations squad, in complete contrast to the words from the CEO. Although the PR team did admit anxiously awaiting the next generation of Windows hardware coming soon, at the latest next year, possibly sooner to shock the market. Windows 8 has been in the news, on blogs and on the wish lists of geeks everywhere.
