In the future earthquake warning technology will be better thanks to the latest version of iOS 5 in Japan. iOS 5 will offer a setting that will allow instant messages to be transmitted in the event of another earthquake. Additionally it may be able to reduce your battery life by polling warning servers continuously. This feature can be turned on by iOS 5 users in Japan at the very bottom of the iOS 5 Notification Center settings pane. As you can see below, the user has to simply flip a switch to begin receiving these notifications that will save lives in the future.Time reports that the system sends warnings from seconds to one or two minutes before the earthquake strikes.
