Motorola launched not one but two new tablets last week, which go by the name of Droid Xyboard 8.2-inch and Droid Xyboard 10.1-inch.

The new 4G tablets which were speculated to be named “Motorola Xoom 2” are now available at Verizon. Compared to their forerunner (the Motorola Xoom), the new Droid Xyboards are faster, thinner and better! Verizon will most likely get rid of their remaining XOOM stock and pack up the XYBOARDS.

The Xyboards run with Verizon’s 4G LTE network and are powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP4 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The slates come in a beautiful new form factor with soft black plastic and metallic-looking hard silver plastic. A sheet of reinforced Gorilla Glass glass covers the 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 pixel resolution LCD display.

The XYBOARD tablets come both with the same internal specs other than a few small differences. Powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, the 5 megapixel camera on the rear can also take pictures in the dark with it’s LED flash and the front facing camera promises some fun for video chat. Both are equipped with Verizon Wireless 4G LTE micro-SIM cards for connectivity but unfortunatly we don’t get a micro-SD slot for additional storage.

You will get a pen stylus that comes with the tablet which is working pretty well and actually really precise. The pen stylus needs a AAA battery and seems to work on most applications as the tablet essentially picks up the stylus as if it was your finger.
