Both of the Archos G9 tablets are expected to see Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in Q1 of 2012. This will help Archos gain some trust as a manufacturer. If you planned to pick up a Archos G9 tablet, you might want to wait a just a little bit longer, as the new “turbo” versions are already on their way. The turbo versions sport a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP dual-core processor instead of the slower 1.0 GHz dual-core processor. In addition are the “turbo” versionsa expected to go on sale just before Christmas for ~$469. Currently Archos’ G9 tablets are running Android 3.2, which is pretty reliable but should see some performance improvements as well as some UI changes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Looks like the low end manufacturers will obtain ICS on their devices before the big names do.
