Is Dell reaching for straws by partnering up with Baidu? Some analyst view China as Apple country and believe that Dell’s partnership with Baidu is a far stretch and one that is not likely to succeed. For those of you who do not know Baidu, it is the most popular search engine in China. Google is a distant second.

Dell is working with Baidu to try to compete with Apple in China which is experiencing large growth in the tablet market. The phones will feature the Baidu brand name which Dell hopes will help its sells to take off. Currently Dell tablet sells are lagging behind.

According to Reuters it is being reported in China that the Baidu mobile phones and tablets may hit stores as early as November. Despite being discontinued in the United States Dell is working with Baidu to bring their Streak 5 tablet to China. Dell has a history of better sells figures on its new products in China than in other markets.
