The cat is out of the bag. According to inside information at Streak Smart, Honeycomb will be on Dell Streak 7s with Wi-Fi sometime in September.
Honeycomb is believed to greatly improve battery life – something that’s a serious drawback on current Android 2.2 Froyo-based models. Unknown how much longer the software will make the battery actually last but there are high expectations. A look at Dell Streak’s developments with the 5-inch Dell Streak leaves one to wonder if Dell will really be able to adapt Honeycomb before 2012. Be prepared to wait for a Dell Steak with a Honeycomb. When Honeycomb does arrive you’ll have double the menu buttons since Dell Steak 7 was designed pre-Honeycomb.
Additionally the Dell Streak 7 hit a good segment of the tablet space where many others haven’t even entered yet – the 7-inch space, currently ruled by the Nook Color and Samsung Galaxy Tab. One drawback of the Dell Streak 7 is that its battery life is weak and its screen cannot compete with the top Tablets on the market. It’s pricing has dropped from $379 to $279 recently at Amazon. Be aware that we will soon see a slew of new 7 inch Tablets such as the Huawei Media Pad, ViewSonic View Pad 7, and the Acer Iconia Tab A100 all with sport dual-core chips.
