Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 2.4 or 4.0) is coming late 2011 and is meant to bring together the numerous Android operating systems currently available. It is a platform that you should wait for since it is likely to be less fragmented than current Androids. The hybrid ASUS Padfone will be equipped with Ice Cream Sandwich I might be the first to be running the brand new Android OS. The Asus Padfone is scheduled for an October release.

One unique feature of the ASUS Padphone which is similar to Motorola’s Lapdock netbook is its hidden compartment that contains the tablet’s power supply. This makes it truly unique among new tablets being launched. The 4.3 inch touchscreen handset gets charged while its docked in the innovative 10.1 inch slate. ASUS has made it clear that they will not be releasing any new smartphone this year but there have been rumors of a next generation Padfone with 3D graphics, as well as offering a 4G LTE Padfone coming early 2012. Either way ASUS will surely come up with some innovative technology soon.
