Check out Microsoft’s Windows 8 blog. They have finally confirmed plans for an app store in it. Presently Windows 8 is rearing up for its launch and I can’t wait to see what they have in store. Though the app store was of no surprise, thanks to Windows 8 screenshots that had been leaked earlier. Either way it is still nice to finally have confirmation that a team of engineers at Microsoft is currently working on it.

Recently Windows Live Division President, Steven Sinofsky announced that his core team of engineers are working on the release of Windows 8 and in that list you can see an app store team. This team will work on app compatibility, applications and media experience, and app experience. “When we started building Windows 8 we had a clear sense of the direction we were heading and so we built a team structure to support that direction,” Sinofsky posted. Additionally he discusses how the teams divide authority, are made up of different roles, and how the engineering process is set up.

Now that Microsoft has basically confirmed the existence of an app store in the next iteration of Windows. We will have to wait to see how Windows app store fares.
