Larry Page shared a few details and mentioned that Android is now seeing huge numbers and is getting around 550,000 activations daily!

No wonder Google has announced Q2 Revenue went up 32% compared to last year.

Google-owned sites generated huge revenues of $6.23 billion, or 69% of total revenues, in the second quarter of 2011. This represents a 39% increase over second quarter 2010 revenues of $4.50 billion.

Of course this revenue is from all Google owned sites. But the mobile market becomes more and more important. Just a few weeks back Andy Rubin tweeted Google has around 500k daily, meaning they’re seeing a fast and stable growth. This was was not even three weeks back and now they are already passing 550,000 activations a day. That is about 3.8 million Android devices every week!!

To give you a better perspective, back in Q1 2011 that number was around 350,000 then at Google I/O it was over 400,000 a day. If you really want me to go back in time, it was back in Q1 2010 just over a year ago that these numbers were at around 160,000 activations per day. So in just 1 short year Google almost tripled their daily Android activations. And by Q3 this year we could see these numbers go up to 650k.

Also the numbers of applications in the Android Market have been exploding lately. Susan Wojcicki, Senior Vice President of Advertising, announced today that the Android Market now has more than 250,000 applications, with more than 6 billion downloads. It was back in October when some Google employees tweeted that the market had passed 100,000 applications. So in not even a year the number of applications in Google Android Market more than doubled.

More than 250,000 apps is a lot but how many of those are Honeycomb optimized? That is the Google’s biggest problem. The number is still alerting low.

Recognize the new Android Market that was just released? If you think this is a Windows phone above it’s not — it is the brand new Android Market 3.0.26 that we have for you to download here.
