ASUS Shipping 2 Million Tablets Says CEO

Keep an eye out for the ASUS Transformer Prime, without the Optimus. The second generation tablet, check out the unboxing we did with its older brother the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. Recently the sales figures have been sky high regarding the Transformer. The word from the ‘Penthouse’ is shipment expectations are in the ballpark of 2 million, currently units sold are in the 1.2 million range. The 4th quarter should, according to the ‘Penthouse’, be big with the upgrade availability of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, estimates are 600,000 units and possibly more. CEO Jerry Shen added some anticipation, confirming the release of two upcoming tablets in February ’12. The PadFone, take a look at PadFone  fully revealed, is expected to be one of them, and a pocket friendly 7 inch version of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer as well.

Windows 8 hasn’t been left out in the cold, CEO Jerry Shen opined that the new user friendly and very familiar software will wow tablet users, painting a grim future for the iOS and Apple. In fact he added Windows 8 could very well become the market leader in the tablet world.

As far as pricing the new tablets from Asustek, plan on spending not a cent over $300, $299 to be precise..

Shen didn’t hesitate when mentioning that the company’s newest products, PadFone and 7 incher, will keep ASUS knocking at the door of Apple and Amazon.
