The success of Amazon’s Prime scheme is likely to be tied to the company’s Kindle Tablet. This slate will be Android based and bring you all of Amazon’s great add-ons. It will feature video, music, and ebooks which will all be available at Amazon and can be saved in cloud storage.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that Amazon is considering a subscription ebook service which will be like Netflix but for readers. The annual few for this service is rumored to be $79. To start with this service would be part of Amazon Prime. Currently Amazon Prime offers unlimited two-day shipping as well as access to its streaming portal. Despite Amazon’s hopes of creating an ebook subscription service they are facing a uphill battle with publishers who are worried that it will hurt book sales.
Despite the substantial financial incentives that Amazon is reportedly offering many publishers are concerned that access to Amazon Prime will devalue books in consumers eyes.
