ASUS makes great tablets, we’ve unboxed the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer along with the keyboard docking station, we’ve talked about the ASUS Eee Pad Slider which is currently available. ASUS has shown us a lot of creative designs, like the PadFone, well the ‘A-Team’ has gotten TOUGH. The ASUS TOUGH, is the latest creation and it’s all in the name. The ASUS TOUGH is the new 7-inch Android 3.2 Honeycomb water-proof tablet. According to sources, the ASUS TOUGH will be in Japan in November, specifically the KDDI network in Japan. With the ASUS TOUGH you get what you get with other tablets from ASUS. A dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, a resolution of 1280×800, 16GB built in memory are all included. One minor draw back, there doesn’t seem to be a front facing camera, but the standard5 megapixel back cam is there.
The ASUS isn’t as thin as newer tablets, but newer tablets aren’t water-proof. Having a water-proof tablet means no more hiding from the rain. Additionally, the ASUS TOUGH is dust proof. ASUS is staying innovative and cutting edge with this soon to be launched tablet. From the photos you can see the thickness of the hardware which makes the tablet tougher and more durable than other tablets, hence the cleverly chosen name: TOUGH. Take another look at the specs:
- 1.0-GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor
- 7-inch touchscreen with 1280×800 pixel resolution
- Android 3.2 Honeycomb
- 16 GB of internal storage
- 5-megapixel main camera
- EVDO Rev.A and WiMax support
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity
- GPS sensors
- miniUSB and microSD slots
The battery hasn’t been confirmed yet although it’s rumored to be a 7,500-mAh battery pack. Before the official release of the ASUS TOUGH and becoming an owner see what else ASUS has to offer.
