Microsoft’s Senior Director of Windows Phone 7 Development, Brandon Watson has offered free phones to published webOS developers. Additionally he has offered the necessary tools and training to get them starting developing on Windows Phones. After taking a look at recent tweets, the response has been very positive. Watson claims that he’s received close to 600 emails from webOS developers so far.

Watson is getting in touch with developers in several different ways. Just in May be shared his personal cell phone number over Twitter and additionally requested that developers of Windows Phone call him to discuss development questions when necessary. Not to mention Watson’s attempt to bring iPhone developers over to Windows Phone 7. A new Windows Phone API mapping tool is now available to make it easier for iPhone developers to port their applications across. Microsoft is also offering the opportunity for free merchandizing slots to Windows Phone developers. As a result Windows Phone developers will have the opportunity to have their application highlighted on Microsoft’s marketplace.
