This week we are hearing a lot about mobile payment devices. First it was Sharp RW-T107 coming out with a built in NFC (Near field communication) reader and now ERPLY has built a mobile payment device for the iPad (shown in the photo below). This device can be attached to iPad’s charging port and is used to transmit encrypted credit card information to ERPLY’s point of sale inventory management software. This will allow for payment of merchandise right on the storeroom floor. One advantage that this device will offer retailers is that they will be able to manage stock flows better in the future.
At the moment ERPLY is only out on the iPad but iPhone users will be able to get one in the next several months for $50. The transaction fee for using ERPLY is 1.9 percent and can function with both NFC and traditional card payments. Customers will automatically receive their receipt via text or email after the purchase.
