The Toshiba Thrive tablet officially went on sale. It has been available early at some places. Now some of the first Thrive owners are reporting there’s already a software update available for the tablet. After last week’s Acer Iconia Android Honeycomb 3.1 update has been rolling out, Toshiba also managed to get their first Android tablet a quick 3.1 update.
The firmware update apparently improves support for multi-touch and may make some other changes as well. A member of the Android Central forums reports that he can no longer use a generic NVIDIA Tegra driver to connect the tablet to his computer using the Android Debug Bridge from Google’s software developer tools.
The Toshiba Thrive features a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display. The tablet has a few features that set it apart from the crowd including a removable back panel which allows you to change out the battery a full-sized USB port, and a full-sized SD cards slot.
