Panasonic now also want’s it’s share and enters the ring with a Toughbook Android Tablet.

True to the Toughbook name — Panasonic’s long-running line of rugged computers — the 10.1-inch tablet will be more durable than its competitors, making it well-suited for construction sites, military deployment and the like. It will also be tough when it comes to security — Panasonic says it has enterprise-level security built-in.
We can expect a new Panasonic Toughbook tablet running Android…

It does not take long to see that the new Panasonic is not going to have the thinnest or prettiest kid on the block. Taking a closer look at the promotional pictures , it looks like the tablet is sporting a rubberized case, which helps guard against dust and spills while making it easier to hold. Panasonic also saw fit to include a matte screen, which reduces glare and makes it easier to use the tablet outdoors. It’ll also include a stylus so that you can capture signatures in the field.

Panasonic hasn’t revealed many other details about the Toughbook tablet. We don’t know what version of Android it’s running (should be Android 3.x though), or if it will even include cameras (there may be a front-facing camera on the promo shot below). The company did say that the device includes satellite-assisted GPS and “full-shift” battery life (should be around 8 hours).

The company will be showing off the tablet at its InfoComm booth in Orlando later today, so expect more details to roll in then.
